BACK TO SCHOOL
It's back to school time! Well, kind of. What a strange time to be a parent, trying to determine the best course of action for your child's mental and physical health. Regardless of whether you've decided to homeschool or send your kiddos back to the traditional classroom, congratulations! You've made the right choice for your family.
There are so many oils that are great for supporting healthy, well-adjusted kids. I plan to post quite a few topics related to kids + oils for a few reasons. One, I have kids. So I'm an expert, right? HA! Two, I was very nervous and unsure when I first started using oils more consistently with my kids. I am a "what does science say" person, and did a lot of research to find my comfort level. That's the funny thing about oils though. Science can explain why and how oils support our body systems and help to regulate our emotions. Science cannot explain why some people respond differently to certain oils, prefer certain fragrances, etc. I've had to teach my go-by-the-book self that while I can educate myself on safety and scientific research about oils, I also have to spend a lot of time just trying things out. Now that I've digressed a bit, let's dive into some of our family's favorite "school year" oils.
- Stress Away - promotes feelings of peace calm; I like to roll this on my son's wrists and chest, or apply a drop of two to his diffuser bracelet in the mornings before school
- Thieves - immunity support, wellness booster; I like to add Thieves to a Wellness blend in a roller (a good basic starting point is Thieves + Lemon + Carrier Oil like Fractionated Coconut Oil) and roll it down all of our spines in the morning before we are out the door, or on the bottoms of our feet just before slipping our shoes on
- Purification - use it in stinky shoes, lunchboxes, to freshen backpacks, and in your diffuser for freshness and wellness support (I like to apply it to a cotton ball and stick in the toes of shoes overnight - great in closets, too)
- Peace and Calming - great mixed with Valor and a carrier oil in a roller to promote feelings of bravery and courage (my son calls this his "brave" oil - and his teacher commented every morning how she could smell his brave oil and loved it - it made his day!)
- Lemon - Lemon + Thieves + Carrier oil in a roller, rolled down the spine or bottoms of feet for immune support; also good respiratory support when the sniffles are starting
- SniffleEase - speaking of sniffles, Snifflease because...school germs; SniffleEase is a pre-diluted, kid-friendly respiratory support oil from the KidScents line that is wonderful applied along the sides of the neck or rubbed into the chest when everyone in the house is coughing and congested
- GeneYus - another KidScents oil that helps to promote concentration; I like to diffuse this one in our little school/homework corner for increased focus
- Tea Tree - I highly suggest adding a few drops of this guy to your family's detangler/conditioner (feel free to google this); we don't like bugs around here
- Valor - I seriously hear angels singing everytime I talk about Valor; it promotes feelings of courage and bravery (and smells SO good); I mix in a roller with Peace and Calming and sometimes Orange for a morning/before school roller
- Orange - Orange you glad I saved the best for last? Sorry for that. Orange is bold + sweet and can amplify feelings of creativity, well-being, and provide excellent mood support; great dropped onto a diffuser bracelet or mixed into a roller
